Fingal Adult Education Service provides classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for adults who wish to improve their speaking, reading and writing skills. Classes are run at a number of centres throughout North County Dublin including Swords, Balbriggan and Skerries.

There are courses at beginner, elementary and intermediate levels, which usually run for eight weeks. Students are placed in classes suitable to their needs - based on assessment. All speakers of other languages with English language needs up to intermediate level are welcome. 

The Adult Refugee Programme

 (ARP)

The Adult Refugee Programme, based in Sarsfield House, Mill Street, Balbriggan, is a study programme open to those with a Green Card Stamp 4. Participants on this programme must be actively seeking employment. The programme is full-time (20 hours per week). The purpose of the programme is to develop English language skills and assist people in the process of integration into Irish society. The programme offers assistance to participants in the following three ways:

1. Improving English language ability, with the option to attain FETAC accreditation;
2. Assisting in accessing work and/or study;
3. Increasing understanding of both the culture and general characteristics of Ireland through social activities.

The programme runs nationally and is administered through the VEC.
