The primary aim of this course is to provide the learners with the knowledge and skills required for employment as a special needs assistant.

There are 2 core modules for all participants on this course.  Participants must have completed Childcare Level 5 prior to starting this course.

  • Special Needs Assisting (FETAC Level 5)
  • Understanding Special needs (FETAC Level 5)


Entry requirements:  All students must have a Junior Certificate in English, Irish and Mathematics which is a Department of Education and Science requirement to be employed as a Special Needs Assistant in a school.
