Traveller Education

This service is available in the following locations:

The Traveller Adult Education Service provides part-time Traveller specific programmes to adults who wish to feel confident in a range of skills. These skills include

  • reading and writing
  • communication skills
  • applying numbers and tackling mathematical problems in everyday life
  • using information technology - computers, e mail etc
  • creative thinking and problem-solving
  • Personal development
  • Study skills.

The service is outreach based with classes taking place in various centres and sites throughout County Dublin. The service works in partnership with local agencies including Traveller Support Groups, Local Employment Services, Visiting Teachers Service, County Councils, FAS and others. Support is made available through links with internal services such as the mainstream Literacy Services and Guidance Services to ensure that students can access all programmes available in the Adult Education Service. County Dublin VEC promotes equality of access and participation.
