Students will learn 

  • Discuss personal sensory perceptions of the environment
  • Describe different dramatic forms, conventions and roles within drama
  • Explain the elements of dramatic story making and telling
  • Demonstrate a range of physical and mental warm up and cool down relaxation techniques
  • Use the body and the environment to enhance communications, dramatic expression and perception including light and dark, sound and silence, and human senses
  • Practice a range of voice techniques including breath control, voice control, speech and posture
  • Explore movement, movement in groups and non-verbal communication using different muscle groups, observation and mirroring
  • Use drama to explore a range of social environments and social situations
  • Practice varied forms of expression
  • Respond to a range of stimuli, including visual, oral, aural, musical, physical and tactile from other group members
  • Explore ideas and emotions through improvisation
  • Participate in exploration, decision making, negotiation and compromise for a range of situations, using role play and improvisation
  • Explore roleplay including adopting a role, strategies used in the creation and development of role, and status, attitudes and values within roleplay
  • Examine the dynamic which affects group work through practical dramatic activity
  • Communicate an improvisation and a story on a given theme(s) with a beginning, middle and end
  • Review the presentation of the improvisation and story, including peer feed-back
  • Apply communication and team working skills when working in a drama environment.
